1. The Fountain - Shut up haters. Best movie ever.

2. Stalker - The film adaptation of Roadside Picnic. Awesome. Its three hours long, and you'll either love it passionately or hate it passionately. All good movies should be like that.

3. Glacier Fox - Old japanese nature "documentary" about a family of foxes in Hokiado. This is just a personal favorite because it is so beautiful and features my favorite animal.

4. Night on the Galactic Railroad - Wierd animated film... this is one of those films that defines a genre for me. I have never seen an animated film that was this artistic before, and that goes for the whole Ghibli catalog too. Its bizzare in an almost Lynch type way, but its so beautiful and deeply meaningful. I love the music, the art, and the story. It could not be improved upon.

5. Donnie Darko - I know there are people that are kind of mad at this guy for his new film. I can't speak for it since I haven't seen it. But even if its as bad as I have head, I think this is one of the coolest and most well rounded movies I have ever seen. The acting is stellar, the story is awesome and unusual, the music is good. Its a work of art, and even if the director never makes another of its calbre, it will still go down in history as one of the greats for me.

Runners up:

Gormenghast - crazy BBC mini-series based on the books by Mervyn Peake. Its not perfect, but no one will ever top it. I loved it personally.

Ghibli - I have favorites, but why waste time? They're all fantastic. Some of them should actually be in my top 5, like Grave of the Fireflys and Whispers of the Heart and Tanuki War, and Princess Mononoke and Nausicaa, and Howl's Moving Castle... ect, ect. But since they're ALL good, I'll just lump them together here.

The Lord of the Rings trilogy - Yeah. I like em. : )

Silent Hill - Best video game adaptation ever. Great creep movie with awesome post apocalyptic sets.

Lars and the Real Girl - Just amazing on every level.

God, I better quit. The runners up list could go on forever.

My Top Five Movies Of All Time:

1. "My Own Private Idaho" Directed by Gus Van Zant. I first watched this movie with my girlfriend in high school Marcy and we were floored. We stayed up until late talking about how awesome that film was. I need to purchase the Criterion Collection edition that came out of that film. I might have to ask for that for Christmas from someone. One of the best written, conceived, and shot films of all time.

2. "Blade Runner" Directed by Ridley Scott. The best science fiction movie ever. To me, it's Raymond Chandler deciding it's okay to introduce sexual murderous robots into his strange noir land of double-timing two-crossers.

3. "Full Metal Jacket" Directed By Stanley Kubrick. A true study in evil and the darkness of the human soul. Best lines are: "You climb obstacle courses like old people f**k" and "What Makes The Grass Grow? Blood Blood Blood"

4. "There Will Be Blood" By Paul Thomas Anderson. Only second to "Citizen Kane". Truly the most interesting film I have seen in all of my life.

5. "Citizen Kane" By Orson Welles. Yep. Rosebud. It's awesome. See it.
