I went with Izzy and checked out "The Happening" last weekend. It was okay and actually the more I think about it, the more blah blah blah I feel about the movie.
In my opinion it was a just a very mediocre "Twilight Zone" episode.
I do think that M. Night Shamalan is unfairly maligned as far as his film-making post "The Sixth Sense". Hey, at least he didn't act in this one. (Which is one of the few complaints I have of "Lady in the Water")

Yup, I liked it too.
What I liked most about it was that it was designed to do what you expect one of this guys movies to do, but not in the way you expect it to.
Its got about a half dozen cleverly placed red herrings in it, and even the way it ends is meant to be the typical Shamalan shocker even if you don't realise it.
To me, the movie was kind of a statement. This guy has made enemies by preaching how awesome he is and how lame hollywood is for puking up the same crap over and over. This time he made a movie that leads you to expect all of the usual crap from him, even the twist at the end, and what you get is not at all what you expected- and that is the twist. I think he's funny and clever and interesting, and if he manages to get another film made, I'll be sure to see it.
I agree with GPS about the overall quality of his films, but thats another reason why I like them. They're well made, but not perfect, and thats kind of a treat in its own way. I continue to enjoy them and thought this one was about as good as anything else he has done.

I watched "Signs" late Saturday night. That is actually a really awesome movie. I hadn't seen it since the movie theater and wanted to check it out. It's one of the most depressing films I have ever seen. I noticed how dark and despondant the film was. I think "Signs" is actually quite underrated.
